Hampden County Contributory Retirement System, Springfield, Mass., has sent out RFPs for an active and a passive core bond manager for up to $30 million. The deadline for the RFPs is Nov. 15; new managers are expected to be selected by March 31.
The $105 million fund has two bond managers, Wellington Management, with $20 million, and Freedom Capital with $30 million; both will be asked to participate in the search, said William B. Southerland, executive director. The fund probably will reduce the assets run by the incumbents to fund the new managers. The fund has not decided how to split the $30 million between the active and passive managers. Segal Advisors is assisting.
