The St. Louis County pension fund, Clayton, Mo., is set to pick its first small-cap U.S. equities manager. Four finalists, vying for what is likely to be a $20 million portfolio, are Brandywine Asset Management, Mississippi Valley Advisors, John McStay Investment Counsel and PNC Advisors.
These firms are scheduled to make presentations to the roughly $200 million fund's board Oct. 31, and a decision is expected at that time, said Ralph Bowser, retirement plans administrator. Funding will come from a reduction in the fund's other equity portfolios.
