Vermont Treasurer Jim Douglas said RPFs are expected to be issued this week for a consultant to help Vermont complete a study on redesigning the state retirement systems. The Segal Co. last month finished the first stage, which described several general options for new retirement plans for the $621 million Vermont State Employees' Retirement Board and $700 million State Teachers Retirement System.
The next phase is expected to recommend two to three retirement plan options with cost data. The consultant should be hired by mid-October, and is expected to make second-stage recommendations by March 1997.
