Hedge fund managers specializing in short selling bounced back strongly in June, while emerging market managers performed best of all categories in the second quarter, according to firms that track hedge fund performance.
Short sellers tracked by Evaluation Associates Capital Markets were up 11% on average in June, but still are down 14.1% for the first half of the year. Short sellers tracked by Van Hedge Fund Advisors were up 8.5% in June, and are down 5.9% in the first half.
Emerging markets managers tracked by Van are up 17.5% for the second quarter 22.4% in the first half, the best performing Van category. TASS Management, which doesn't release monthly performance, shows emerging markets managers to be up on average 20.2% in the second quarter and 25.6% in the first half. EACM doesn't track emerging markets as a separate group.
