EVEREN Securities' chief investment strategist, Rao Chalasani, is increasing his suggested allocation to domestic stocks and bonds by reducing cash in balanced, aggressive and global portfolios. The aggressive and balanced portfolios call for stocks to increase to 45% from 35%; bonds would rise to 20% from 15% on aggressive portfolios and to 25% from 20% on balanced. In the global portfolio, U.S. stocks will increase to 35% from 30% and U.S. bonds, to 15% from 13%. He said excesses in the stock market, which had snowballed over the past 12 months, are being reduced substantially and valuations have become more attractive.
