The $3.1 billion Oklahoma Public Employees' Retirement System, Oklahoma City, hired BZW Barclays to manage a $600 million S&P 500 index fund and a $200 million international equity index fund. Other finalists were Bankers Trust and State Street Bank. Funding will come from reallocating assets from existing active equity managers, said Stephen C. Edmonds, executive director. In addition, Mr. Edmonds said the system expects to initiate a search for an emerging markets manager later this fall.
