More than 20 representatives of public pension funds are asking members of the Senate Finance Committee to support ``pension simplification'' provisions in HR 3448, The Small Business Job Protection Act, that will be considered by the committee tomorrow.
``Public retirement systems have been waiting nearly a decade for final passage of these modifications to the federal tax code,'' members of the Government Finance Officers Association wrote Senate Finance Committee Chairman William V. Roth Jr., R-Del. Their priorities include protecting government employees' contributions to 457 plans in a separate trust, letting employees increase contributions in keeping with inflation and eliminating non-discrimination testing.
