Brown Brothers Harriman is raising its third private equity fund, the 1818 Mezzanine Fund. The firm seeks to raise $250 million from institutional investors; no closing date has been scheduled yet. The fund will make investments in small to midsized private companies, and will be the firm's first fund investing in private companies.
Brown Brothers' previous two funds, the 1818 Funds I and II, raised $400 million and $475 million, respectively, to invest in public companies.
