Trustees of the $700 million Hartford (Conn.) Municipal Employees Retirement Fund selected State Street Bank & Trust as its new custodian, pending the completion of contract negotiations, said Kathleen Palm, deputy treasurer. The pension fund would like to complete the negotiations by July 1, when the contract with current custodian Fleet Bank expires, said Ms. Palm. The trustees selected State Street because of the bank's commitment to the public pension fund business. Bank of New York was selected last year as custodian, but the two sides could not come to terms.
