The C$41.9 billion (U.S. $30.9 billion) Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board, North York, earned C$5.7 billion investment income in 1995, compared with C$528 million the previous year.
The plan, Canada's single largest invested pension fund, had 65% of its investments in equities last year and the remainder in fixed income.
Last year's return on investments was 16.9%, vs. 1.7% a year earlier, the fund announced. At the end of 1995, the pension plan had a deficiency of C$500 million, compared with C$2.6 billion in 1994.
