All of the education 401(k) plan participants have been receiving has raised their investment performance expectations, perhaps to unreasonable levels, a survey by Twentieth Century Mutual Funds shows. While 32% of 401(k) participants said they expect returns of between 10% and 14% annually during the next five years, only 20% of non-401(k) participants expect the same returns. The survey also found 12% of 401(k) plan investors expect annual returns between 15% and 19%.
