For the first time, combined assets of the nation's mutual funds broke the $3 trillion mark, reaching $3.01 trillion in February, according to the Investment Company Institute. Net assets of stock funds were $1.374 trillion, and bond and income fund assets were $807.7 billion, a decrease. The figures were released at an ICI Education and Federal Bar Association conference in San Diego.
