Jeffrey V. Bailey joined Dayton Hudson Corp., Minneapolis, as director-employee benefits investments. He replaces Wayne Wicker, who now is director of investment strategy at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
Mr. Bailey had been a partner at consultant Richards & Tierney. The firm is searching for a replacement for Mr. Bailey.
Michael J. Wyatt was promoted to portfolio manager-savings plans for the $10.5 billion 401(k) plans of E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co., Wilmington, Del., replacing Wil Mr. Wyatt had been an investment analyst at duPont. Mr. Smith could not be reached for comment, but has reportedly not accepted a new position yet.
Fabio P. Savoldelli joined Chase Asset Management, New York, as chief investment officer of the Americas region, a new position. Mr. Savoldelli was most recently deputy chief investment officer and director of fixed income and foreign exchange at Swiss Bank's Portfolio Management International. In his new position, he will head up global investment management and strategic oversight for clients in North, South and Central America. Swiss Bank is in the process of choosing a replacement for Mr. Savoldelli.
James Conrad was named head administrator of the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation, Columbus, which manages the more than $10 billion Ohio State Insurance Fund. It is a new position. Robert Leggett, director of investments for the fund, said investment management policy may change. Mr. Leggett said search activity may begin early in the fourth quarter, though he could not be more specific about likely asset allocation style changes.
Paul Aslanian, treasurer and chief financial officer of Macalester College, St. Paul, Minn., is leaving this month to become vice president for finance of Swarthmore College, Swarthmore, Pa., He is replacing William Spock, vice president for business and finance, who has retired to Maine. Swarthmore's endowment has $505 million. Macalester's endowment has close to $500 million.
Charles L. Johnson, associate treasurer of Smith College, Northampton, Mass., retired effective June 30. He has not been replaced. His investment duties for the $500 million endowment have been assumed by Jonathan Lovell, budget director.
James McClure and John P. Harloe Jr. joined Barrow, Hanley, Mewhinney & Strauss Inc., Dallas, as principals. They will manage a new small- and midcap value portfolio. Mr. McClure previously was vice president and equity portfolio manager at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, New York, where Mitch Cantor and Paul Farrell will continue as co-managers of the firm's capital growth strategy. Mr. Harloe was vice president and equity portfolio manager at Sterling Capital Management, Charlotte, N.C., where new portfolio managers Brian Walton and Eduardo Brea replaced him.
Robert Staley will resign as executive director of the Pension Real Estate Association in late September to become a senior vice president and partner with Hart Advisers, Simsbury, Conn. The position at Hart is a new one, said William Holmes, a partner.
The search for a replacement is under way, said T. Robert Burke, chairman of PREA, a trade association for pension and endowment real estate investors.
