Malcolm Mitchell, former principal and consultant at InterSec Research Corp., Stamford, Conn., has founded the Center for Investment Policy Studies.
The mission of the center is to encourage research into and discussion of the principals and practices of setting global institutional investment policy.
Mr. Mitchell said initial funding has been provided by two investment management firms, who did not wish to be identified, but the center will be " a sponsored membership organization of investment management firms."
He said it will encourage the development of research papers in the field of investment policy, and will publish them in a quarterly journal - The Investment Policy Quarterly Review.
In addition, the center will sponsor the Investment Policy Roundtable, a gathering of member firms with invited guests.
The first meeting will be June 23 at Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., and the second will be Sept. 29 in Boston.
Mr. Mitchell initially planned to start a money management firm after leaving InterSec but said he changed his plans after he found a great deal of interest in the idea of a research center.
