The efforts of activist public pension funds to make boardrooms more diverse finally are bearing fruit.
According to Spencer Stuart, a New York executive search firm, one-third of its board placements in the past 12 months were women, three times the number three years ago. Women coupled with minorities represented more than 40% of placements, double the figure of three years ago.
The firm reports it is working with three of the 10 largest companies in the United States on issues related to achieving greater diversity on boards of directors.
