The Monument Group, Boston, a venture run by John McLaren, a former managing director of the Virginia Retirement System, and Alicia Cooney, a consultant with Cambridge Associates Inc., has signed Clayton Dubilier & Rice, New York, as its first client, said Mr. McLaren, managing director.
Monument, which will specialize in raising funds for alternative and private equity investors, will act as a co-placement agent with Merrill Lynch & Co., New York, for a Clayton Dubilier & Rice buy-out fund, he said. The fund has an approximate goal of raising $1 billion, Mr. McLaren said.
Ms. Cooney, who is still with Cambridge, will be a managing director for the venture. The venture should be up and running in a month or so, he said.
