CHICAGO - James J. O'Leary III, senior executive vicepresident in Callan Associates' Chicago office, died Feb. 24 after a long bout with cancer. He was 44.
Mr. O'Leary, who joined Callan in 1984 as a senior vice president and regional manager of the San Francisco consulting office, most recently headed up the firm's manager services division and was a member of the client policy review and management committee.
"Jim was an extraordinary human being, an outstanding professional and a friend to all," said Ron Peyton, president of Callan. "We're all aware of his profound contributions to our firm and industry. We will miss him a great deal."
Before joining Callan, Mr. O'Leary had been senior vice president in charge of marketing at Investment and Capital Management Inc., Chicago. Before that, he was at Higgins Associates Inc., Cambridge, Mass.
He is survived by his wife, Denise; his mother; three brothers; and a sister.
