William H. Kelly was named senior vice president and treasurer of Arkla Inc., Houston, replacing James Ivey, who resigned to become treasurer at Tenneco Gas Division, Houston. Mr. Kelly will continue to hold his previous responsibilities for strategic planning and shareholder relations.
Howard York was named president and chief executive officer of MetLife Investment Management Corp., a subsidiary of Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. Mr. York assumes the responsibilities of Gerald Clark, who remains chairman of MIMCO. Mr. Clark also is executive vice president and chief investment officer of Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.
Before joining MIMCO, Mr. York was executive vice president and co-chief investment officer at American General Corp., Houston.
Robert Ronus, previously executive vice president, was elected president of Capital Guardian Trust Co., Los Angeles. He's also chairman of Capital Research International.
James Rothenberg, formerly president, was elected a vice chairman of the board.
Craig Foley, portfolio manager and a managing director at Los Angeles-based Chancellor Capital Management's alternate asset management group, has resigned, a letter to clients from President Robert G. Wade revealed.
Marc Tesler, a portfolio manager and managing director at the group, will replace him temporarily. Mr. Foley couldn't be reached for immediate comment.
Philip W. Norwood, formerly chairman and partner at Trammell Crow Realty Advisors, Dallas, was named president and chief executive officer at Faison Associates, Charlotte, N.C., a real estate development, investment and management firm. He succeeds Henry J. Faison, who, as chairman, will focus on future expansion. Mr. Norwood hasn't been replaced yet at Trammell Crow.
William F. Loftus was named executive vice president and chief investment officer of Turner & Partners, Naples, Fla., which provides management for companies acquired by Hicks Muse & Co. a Dallas-based buy-out firm. Mr. Loftus previously was vice president and treasurer of Cabot Corp., Boston. At Cabot, Margaret Hanratty was promoted to fill Mr. Loftus' post.
Alice T. Kane was named executive vice president in charge of the asset management and investment products operations at New York Life Insurance Co. She replaces Thomas P. O'Connor, who will retire in June after 21 years with New York Life. Ms. Kane will retain her role as general counsel while assuming Mr. O'Connor's responsibilities.
Scott Crossley will head New York Life Asset Management's new AdvantAge Rollover/IRA Investment Marketing Group. Mr. Crossley, previously in a marketing and client services role for the asset management division, is director of institutional investments. The new division is aimed at servicing distribution of pension assets for corporate clients with retiring, terminated or transitional employees.
Michael F. Palone was named managing director of Foreign & Colonial (USA), Boston, a subsidiary of London-based Foreign & Colonial Management Ltd., and will head the firm's new marketing efforts in the U.S. and Canadian institutional markets. The position is a new one.
Mr. Palone was director and senior marketing official at Baring Investment Services Inc., Boston, where he will not be replaced.
Oliver T. Kane has joined ANZ Bank, London, as head of its New York office and director of its international merchant banking division. Mr. Kane will be in charge of building up distribution of ANZ's emerging market products to U.S. investors, including portfolio management, debt securities and private placements. He previously was a senior vice president at Equitable Capital Management, New York.
