Ravi S. Anand was named head of private real estate credit at Wellington Management.
It is a new role for Wellington’s $8.9 billion private investing platform and comes as the firm expands its capabilities with the formation of a private real estate credit platform, a spokesperson for the firm confirmed.
Anand started in the role March 5 and reports to Emily Bannister, head of private credit. He had previously held the role as global co-head of CRE debt and head of U.S. private CRE debt at PIMCO.
Roman Kogan assumed sole leadership of PIMCO’s private CRE lending business in September, a spokesperson for the firm confirmed.
Along with Anand, Zeyu “Chen” Chen joins Wellington’s private real estate credit team as a portfolio manager, Michael Chen joins as a principal and Lucas Dias-Lam joins as an associate. All had previously held roles at PIMCO.
“This highly skilled and experienced team is a significant and timely expansion of Wellington’s ongoing efforts to build a global, scalable, private investing platform that provides differentiated solutions and investment capabilities for our clients,” Bannister said in a news release.
The private real estate credit team will focus primarily on “originating senior and subordinated loans across property sectors in North America, with the potential to expand to global markets,” according to the release.
Wellington has over $1.2 trillion in assets under management.
