Marcos Alvarado has been named partner and head of U.S. real estate at global investment firm Sixth Street, effective Feb. 1.
A spokesperson for Sixth Street confirmed this is a newly created role and is part of the expansion of the Sixth Street Real Estate platform.
Sixth Street Real Estate focuses on acquiring properties across various real estate sectors, including residential, hospitality, office, industrial and retail, said a Jan. 17 release.
Sixth Street has more than $75 billion in assets under management and committed capital, the release added.
Alvarado joins Sixth Street from real estate investment trust Safehold, where he served as its president and chief investment officer.
Tim Doherty was named chief investment officer of Safehold, according to a Jan. 16 news release issued by Safehold.
