Emma Davies was named co-CEO of venture capital firm Octopus Ventures, a spokesman said.
The role is new. Ms. Davies focuses on running the firm from an operational point of view responsible for product development, operations and corporate development. She takes those responsibilities on from co-CEO Alliott Cole — previously sole CEO — who now focuses on managing the investment strategy and the firm's portfolio of companies.
"We are now entering a golden age of European technology and Emma's appointment will help us to expand our platform to keep scaling and take full advantage of this. It feels like we are at an inflexion point and I firmly believe that many of the world's most impactful technology companies of the next decade will come from Europe, with even greater flows of capital likely to follow," Mr. Cole said in a news release Wednesday.
Octopus Ventures has £1.3 billion ($1.8 billion) in assets under management.
Ms. Davies was a partner at Marlylebone Partners. Details of her replacement were not immediately known.
