Robert Stark was named managing director and head of investment management in the Americas and Matthew Pallai was named chief investment officer, alternative solutions, investment management Americas, at Nomura Holding America, a spokeswoman said in an email.
The two will lead a New York-based private markets-focused investment management business Nomura hopes to launch in the coming months, the spokeswoman said.
Messrs. Stark and Pallai were previously co-founders of Alterum Capital Partners and were CEO and CIO, respectively.
Before founding Alterum Capital, Mr. Stark had previously been senior managing director and managing director of corporate development at FS Investments, and Mr. Pallai had previously been executive vice president and head of multiasset solutions at Harbor Capital Advisors.
The new Nomura business' first strategy will be a private credit fund focused on exposures to a diversified set of sectors, a news release from the firm said Wednesday.
