New Enterprise Associates closed its latest venture capital fund, New Enterprise Associates 17, with $3.6 billion, its fundraising target, spokeswoman Kate Barrett said in an email.
The new fund is 9% larger than its predecessor, $3.3 billion New Enterprise Associates 16, which closed in 2017.
New Enterprise Associates 17 will primarily make early stage venture capital investments with select growth-stage investments in technology and heath-care companies.
Investors in the fund include the $252.4 billion California State Teachers' Retirement System, West Sacramento; $67 billion Alaska Permanent Fund Corp., Juneau; $33.4 billion Texas County & District Retirement System, Austin; $21.4 billion Louisiana Teachers' Retirement System, Baton Rouge; $19.1 billion Los Angeles City Employees' Retirement System; and $10 billion Sacramento County (Calif.) Employees' Retirement System.
At the same time, New Enterprise announced that Liza Landsman is now a general partner. She joined NEA in 2018 as a venture partner, serving as president of NEA portfolio company Jet.com, a consumer-focused software and services company.
