MSCI is acquiring the 66% of private markets research firm Burgiss Group that it doesn't already own for $697 million in cash, a spokeswoman said in an email on Monday.
MSCI initially invested $190 million in 2020 to acquire a minority interest in Burgiss.
The acquisition of all of Burgiss' business units "reinforces MSCI's commitment to driving innovation and transparency across the global private asset investment landscape," said Henry Fernandez, MSCI chairman and CEO, in a news release. MSCI acquired real estate research firm Real Capital Analytics in 2021.
The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2023.
