David Scopelliti joined Mercer as global head of private debt and a partner, a spokesman confirmed.
The role is not new. Further details were not immediately available.
Mr. Scopelliti oversees the consultant's research, advice and implementation of private debt strategies across the globe. Based in Norwalk, Conn., he reports to Bill Muysken, global CIO for alternatives, a news release said.
The multimanager private debt business has about $4 billion in assets under management.
"We continue to see increased demand from investors to help them reduce complexity in the current climate and improve their outcomes," Mr. Muysken said in the release.
Mr. Scopelliti was most recently CEO of Alcentra Capital Corp., the release said. He left in 2018.
