Denizer Ibrahim joined LGIM Real Assets in the new position of head of retail and futuring, said Faye Bennett, spokeswoman for LGIM Real Assets and its parent firm Legal & General Capital in an email.
Futuring is the concept of redeveloping malls to better attract customers and about creating places that will work for the future, she explained. LGIM Real Assets hired Mr. Ibrahim as part of its effort to change its approach to investing in retail properties, prioritizing prime locations, top service and strong partnerships.
He reports to Michael Barrie, head of fund management.
"As owners we need to adopt a brave new approach to retail, curating environments (that) re-connect people with place," Mr. Barrie said in a written statement."
"We must move from being the 'librarians' of space, collecting rent, letting shops and property managing," to also ensure retail properties are relevant.
Mr. Ibrahim was most recently director, head of commercial place-making and master planning at BNP Paribas Real Estate.
