Akira Nishimura was named managing director for client service and marketing, and head of institutional sales for Japan at real estate investment management firm Heitman.
The role is new, a spokeswoman said.
Together with Taka Kiura, Asia managing director, Mr. Nishimura leads the firm's client service and marketing activities for unlisted and listed property and private real estate debt investment strategies.
Heitman, which is headquartered in Chicago, has $53 billion in assets under management.
Mr. Nishimura was senior managing director for Tokyo and co-head of investor relations for Asia-Pacific at LaSalle Investment Management. He led capital raising efforts for global indirect investments. Spokesmen at LaSalle could not immediately be reached for comment on his replacement.
