Goldman Sachs Group formed its own alternatives capital and strategy group across its consumer and investment management and merchant banking divisions.
The new group will have "accountability for driving institutional capital markets, capital raising, and client strategy for alternative investments throughout Goldman Sachs," according to a memo to employees obtained by Pensions & Investments.
Chris Kojima, global head of the alternative investments and manager selection group for Goldman Sachs Asset Management and co-chief investment officer of that group, and Michael Koester, chief commercial officer for Goldman Sachs' merchant banking division, will co-lead the new alternatives capital and strategy group, the memo said.
Raanan Agus, head of direct alternatives with Goldman Sachs Asset Management, will become co-head and co-CIO of the alternative investments and manager selection group at GSAM alongside current co-CIO Mike Brandmeyer. Mr. Agus also oversees GS Acquisition and Holdings Corp. and GSAM's energy and infrastructure business.
