Troy A. Gayeski joined alternatives manager FS Investments as managing director and chief market strategist.
The position is new, spokeswoman Melanie Hemmert said in an interview, noting that Mr. Gayeski is based in the firm's Philadelphia headquarters.
He started Oct. 15 and his responsibilities include communicating with external stakeholders regarding the firm's investment platform and market views as well as "commercializing the firm's existing fund lineup" and developing new investment strategies, a news release said.
"Troy is a seasoned executive and well-known thought leader in the alternative investment space," said Michael Forman, chairman and CEO of FS Investments, in the news release, adding "I look forward to benefiting from his insight, expertise and strong industry relationships as we continue to grow our business and work to deliver innovative new solutions to our clients and investors."
Mr. Gayeski was a partner, co-CIO and senior portfolio manager at hedge funds-of-funds manager SkyBridgeCapital II until his departure in July.
He was replaced in the co-CIO role by Brett S. Messing, a SkyBridge partner, who retained his existing roles as president and chief operating officer.
FS Investments manages $25 billion for retail and institutional investors.
