Patrick Vizzone joined Franklin Templeton in Hong Kong as managing director and head of agri-food with the money manager's Asia-Pacific alternatives group.
The position, leading the firm's private equity and venture capital investments in the sustainable agri-food sector globally, is new.
Mr. Vizzone comes to Franklin Templeton from ANZ Banking Group, where he served as international head of food, beverage and agribusiness and head of Hong Kong coverage.
An ANZ spokesman couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
Mr. Vizzone will report to Jing Su Vivatrat, president and chief operating officer of the firm's Asia-Pacific alternatives group.
Ben Meng, Franklin Templeton's chairman, Asia-Pacific, said in a news release that Mr. Vizzone's appointment underscores the firm's commitment to build its alternative asset capabilities in the region in areas such as sustainability-focused agri-food and technology private equity.
