Vlado Spasov has joined German asset management firm DWS Group as head of capital solutions, a newly formed division at the firm, according to a news release.
The move is effective immediately. Spasov will be based in London, and will report to Dan Robinson, head of alternative credit for the EMEA region at DWS.
The establishment of a capital solutions unit at DWS is part of the firm’s initiative to accelerate the growth of its €111 billion ($118 billion) alternatives arm. DWS’ other strategic initiatives in alternative credit include direct lending, leveraged loans and structured credit.
Robinson said in a news release: “With the appointment of Vlado, we are moving forward at pace with our commitment to grow in alternative credit. As well as leading our capital solutions business, we expect Vlado to play a leading role in the growth of our direct lending business.”
Spasov was most recently the founder and chief investment officer at Trimontium Capital, and was previously a managing director in the hedge fund solutions group at Blackstone and a member of its special situations investing group.
Trimontium couldn't immediately be reached for information about a replacement for Spasov.
DWS had €896 billion of assets under management as of Dec. 31.
