Drew Maloney, president and CEO of the American Investment Council, will leave the organization July 1 to take over as president and CEO of the Edison Electric Institute.
Maloney will succeed Pat Vincent-Collawn, EEI’s interim president and CEO, the association of U.S. investor-owned electric companies said in a news release April 21.
“Drew Maloney’s extensive public policy expertise, financial and energy sector work, and trade association leadership will be a tremendous asset to EEI member companies and the millions of customers we serve,” EEI Board Chair Maria Pope said in the news release.
Before joining the American Investment Council in 2018, Maloney previously served as the Treasury Department's assistant secretary for legislative affairs.
“As AI (artificial intelligence) transforms our industries, manufacturers return to our shores, and daily life becomes more electrified, the strength and resilience of America’s energy grid is more critical than ever,” Maloney said in the news release. “EEI’s member companies make up an innovative and dynamic industry, and I am excited to work with them to lay out and execute policies to support critical infrastructure investment, accelerate the deployment of domestic energy sources, and keep energy affordable and reliable for customers.”
Maloney earned a law degree from the Catholic University of America and a bachelor’s degree from Randolph-Macon College, according to the news release.
"Over the past seven years, Drew has doubled the AIC’s membership and achieved an incredible record of winning advocacy on issue after issue," AIC Board Chair Pam Hendrickson said in a statement. "We are grateful for Drew’s work and will benefit from his leadership through the end of June."
“The AIC has a remarkable, strong and dedicated team on board who will help us navigate this transition,” Hendrickson continued. “We are excited about the next chapter of the AIC’s history as we continue to promote how private capital creates jobs, supports businesses and strengthens communities across our country.”
