John Empson was named a partner and co-head of private credit at CVC Credit Partners, a spokesman said.
It is a new position. He is co-head alongside Andrew Davies, partner.
"We expect very significant growth across CVC Credit over the next three to five years," said Ken Young, managing partner, in a news release. "Strategically, this is a huge area of focus for the CVC Group," the firm's parent company.
The firm had $27 billion in assets under management as of Sept. 30. CVC Credit Partners invests in companies across subinvestment-grade corporate credit markets in Europe and North America.
Mr. Empson was head of capital markets for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at BlackRock. A spokeswoman declined to comment.
