Jiri Zrust was named partner and head of infrastructure for CVC Capital Partners' Strategic Opportunities strategy, a spokesman confirmed Monday.
The role is new. Effective in March, Mr. Zrust will focus on broader infrastructure and energy transition investments made by CVC's Strategic Opportunities strategy. He will be based in London.
CVC Strategic Opportunities was launched in 2014 to invest in high-quality businesses outside of the firm's traditional private equity investments. The firm has committed €5.5 billion ($6.2 billion) in equity capital since the strategy launched, according to the firm's website. Mr. Zrust will report to Lorne Somerville, managing partner, co-chairman and co-head of CVC Strategic Opportunities.
"I'm delighted that Jiri will join us to lead our infrastructure-plus investment platform. This is a key component of CVC Strategic Opportunities as it expands its focus. His experience and track record will prove invaluable in driving the growth of this strategic pillar," Mr. Somerville said in a news release Monday.
Mr. Zrust was most recently senior managing director and head of energy transition at Macquarie Asset Management and was not replaced.
CVC Capital Partners has $125 billion in assets under management.
