Richard Hill joined Cohen & Steers as senior vice president and head of real estate strategy and research.
It is a new position. Mr. Hill will lead the real estate strategy group, a "team responsible for identifying and analyzing long-term and secular real estate investment ideas, as well as building an integrated listed and private real estate strategy function to help investors optimize portfolios both strategically and tactically," said a news release Wednesday.
Mr. Hill reports to Jon Cheigh, chief investment officer and head of global real estate, the news release said.
Mr. Hill started Monday and is based in New York, a spokeswoman confirmed in an email.
Mr. Hill was head of U.S. REIT equity and commercial real estate debt research at Morgan Stanley, where he oversaw public REIT equity research, CRE debt strategy and macro property research, the release said. Morgan Stanley officials could not be immediately reached for further details.
Cohen & Steers managed more than $56 billion of real estate assets globally as of June 30.
