Scott Greenfield was named managing director of real estate at alternative money manager CarVal Investors.
It is a new position, a spokeswoman said in an email. Based in New York, Mr. Greenfield will manage commercial real estate loan and securities investments as part of the manager’s expansion into the real estate investing business. He reports to Seth Cohen and David Pelka, both principals at CarVal, the spokeswoman said.
He was previously a manager in Angelo Gordon's real estate debt group. A spokeswoman for Angelo Gordon declined to comment.
CarVal Investors has traditionally been focused on opportunistic and distressed credit, renewable energy infrastructure, specialty finance and transportation investments.
AllianceBernstein signed a definitive agreement in March to acquire the firm, which will be rebranded as AB CarVal Investors when the deal closes, expected sometime in the second quarter.
As of Dec. 31, CarVal Investors had about $14.3 billion in assets under management.
