Dan Oneglia will join Blackstone Group's credit business GSO Capital Partners in the fourth quarter as a senior managing director and co-head of its distressed investing business, said spokeswoman Paula Chirhart in an email.
Mr. Oneglia will work alongside David Posnick, the other co-head and senior managing director.
Mr. Oneglia was a portfolio manager and head of multistrategy investing in the Americas for Goldman Sachs' special situations group.
Ms. Chirhart declined comment beyond a news release.
GSO represents 8% of the last 12 months of distributable earnings for Blackstone.
Sources with knowledge of the matter said Mr. Oneglia will replace Jason New, who will be leaving at the end of the year to pursue other opportunities.
Andrew Williams, a Goldman Sachs spokesman, confirmed in an email that Mr. Oneglia has left Goldman Sachs but declined to comment on whether he has been replaced.
