Kurt Summers Jr., former Chicago city treasurer, joined Blackstone's infrastructure business as a senior managing director and head of public-private partnerships, spokeswoman Paula Chirhart said in an email.
It is a new position. Mr. Summers will focus on investment infrastructure strategies with local governments and others as well as help advance the Blackstone infrastructure unit's environmental, social and governance efforts.
"Blackstone infrastructure remains dedicated to partnering with local and state governments — they are vital to ensuring infrastructure projects achieve the goals of their communities and stakeholders — and we look forward to expanding on these efforts with Kurt," said Sean Klimczak, global head of infrastructure, in a news released Tuesday.
Mr. Summers was a senior adviser to Blackstone. He also serves as an independent director of L&F Acquisition Corp., a special purpose acquisition company. His term as Chicago city treasurer ended in 2019.
