Gabriel Sod Hoffs joined Blackstone Group as a managing director and head of emerging markets and global macro strategy, spokeswoman Paula Chirhart said.
It is a new position and was added due to the expanded role for Alexander Moseley — a managing director in Blackstone's hedge fund solutions group, Blackstone Alternative Asset Management, who is focused on emerging markets — that occurred a year ago when Blackstone Group created a global markets business that includes global macro, emerging markets and commodities, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.
Mr. Hoffs was hired to provide added senior coverage on the team.
"Gabriel has extensive trading and investing experience in rates, currencies, and sovereign credit with a focus on emerging markets," said John McCormick, president and CEO of BAAM, in an email. "I'm thrilled to welcome Gabriel to Blackstone."
Mr. Hoffs was a portfolio manager focused on emerging markets at Caxton Associates. Kelly Griffin, a partner at Caxton, could not be immediately reached.
