Kristen Weldon joined BlackRock as a managing director and the new global head of sustainable investing at it's alternative investment unit, said Edwin Conway, global head, and Jim Barry, managing director and CIO of the unit, in an internal memo.
Ms. Weldon, who is based in London, will lead initiatives such as developing a comprehensive framework for assessing climate risk. She replaces Teresa O'Flynn, also a BlackRock managing partner, who has taken on the new role of founding member of Decarbonization Partners, a partnership with S$381 billion ($272.2 billion) Temasek Holdings, Singapore's state investment arm.
Decarbonization Partners plans to launch a series of late-stage venture capital and early-growth private equity funds focused on advancing decarbonization and net-zero solutions.
Ms. Weldon was head of environmental, social and governance and impact investing at Partners Capital, an outsourced investment office firm.
