Nick ap Simon joined alternative credit manager Balbec Capital as a managing director in its capital formation group, effective immediately.
The role is newly created and based in London, a spokesperson confirmed. The appointment is part of the firm’s move to expand its marketing efforts globally.
Ap Simon reports to Peter Troisi, president at the $6.3 billion firm. He is responsible for leading the marketing efforts in Europe and the Middle East.
“We are pleased to welcome Nick to Balbec as we continue to strategically add top talent to our capital formation group and scale our business,” Troisi said in a statement. “Nick’s extensive network of relationships across Europe and the Middle East, coupled with his deep experience across alternative credit strategies, will be invaluable to Balbec as we continue to serve the needs of our clients and establish new partnerships globally.”
His appointment follows that of Bruce Rodio last year as managing director in the capital formation group, based in New York.
Ap Simon was managing director, alternative credit specialist at Nuveen. He was not replaced, a spokesperson said.
