Bain Capital Credit closed its latest debt fund, Bain Capital Distressed and Special Situations Fund 2019, with $3.2 billion in capital commitments, a spokesman confirmed.
About half of the capital raised for the fund has been invested or committed.
The previous fund in the series, Bain Capital Distressed and Special Situations Fund 2016, raised $3.1 billion by August 2016.
Investors in the current fund include the $59.1 billion Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System, Harrisburg; $5.2 billion Boston Retirement System; and $859 million Ohio State Highway Patrol Retirement System, Columbus.
