Stephane Etroy was named partner and head of European private equity, effective Feb. 6, at Ares Management, a spokesman said.
Based in London, Mr. Etroy will lead Ares' private equity activities by looking for opportunities from the firm's European credit and real estate platforms. He will serve as member of the corporate opportunities investment committee for firm's private equity group. Details about Mr. Etroy's predecessor could not be learned.
"Stephane is a highly experienced and accomplished professional in the global private equity markets with a particular focus on the European market," said Bennett Rosenthal, co-founder of the firm and co-chairman of the private equity group, in a news release.
Mr. Etroy previously worked in London as executive vice president and head of private equity at C$326.7 billion ($248 billion) Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec, Montreal. Details about his replacement could not be immediately learned.
