William M. Lewis Jr., a managing director and chairman of investment banking at Lazard, will join Apollo Global Management on Nov. 15 as a senior partner in private equity and a member of Apollo's management committee.
The move is according to an email from Joanna Rose, Apollo spokeswoman, and a Lazard news release.
In the new position, Mr. Lewis will make private equity investments as well as work with the executive management team on human capital, citizenship, and diversity and inclusion efforts.
"Bill's decades of M&A and financial expertise will be a great addition to the private equity franchise," said Apollo co-presidents Scott Kleinman and Jim Zelter in a news release.
Mr. Lewis will retire from Lazard on Nov. 12 and join its board of directors, effective April 29, 2022, the Lazard news release said.
As of June 30, Apollo had about $472 billion in assets under management.
