Anuj Poddar joined Carlyle Group as co-head of global portfolio solutions for Asia based in Mumbai, the $435 billion private investments group said in a statement on Sept. 9.
The role was newly created to enhance value creation capabilities within portfolio companies in India and Southeast Asia, the statement said. He is responsible for driving transformational change and the performance of portfolio companies.
Poddar joins from Bajaj Electricals, a consumer appliances and lighting solutions company in India, where he was chief executive officer.
In his new role, he works closely with investment advisory teams of each country, Vice Chair of Carlyle Asia Janine Feng who looks after value creation strategies in Asia and Richard Elder, the global head of portfolio solutions in the U.S., the statement said.
“His new role dovetails with our increased focus on enhancing portfolio company value creation and as we look to increase the number of control buyout deals that we do in Asia,” Greg Zeluck, managing director and co-head of Carlyle Asia, said in the statement.
