Fergal Harris was appointed managing director for institutional real estate investment firm Affinius Capital’s global investors group as it opened its new Sydney office, according to a Feb. 4 statement.
It is a new position. Harris is responsible for capital raising in Australia and New Zealand, and will support broader engagement in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Sydney office is expected to further expand the firm’s footprint in the region alongside its Seoul office to more closely service its global investors, the statement said.
Affinius Capital has $64 billion in gross assets under management, and its global offices outside the U.S. include Amsterdam and Seoul.
Harris was managing director of institutional capital at HMC Capital, an alternative asset manager in Sydney. A spokesperson confirmed his departure and said HMC’s institutional team is chaired by Nicholas Harris along with Adam Baxter, who joined as managing director in September.
HMC Capital has $19 billion in assets under management.
