Aditya Dutt was appointed president and a partner at property catastrophe reinsurance investment manager Aeolus Capital Management, a news release said.
The role is new, reporting to Andrew Bernstein, CEO and managing partner. Further details were not available.
Aeolus, which is based in Bermuda, manages more than $4 billion in investments in property catastrophe reinsurance and the retrocession market, in which reinsurance contracts are reinsured. The firm is part-owned by Elliot Management Corp. funds.
"By adding this outstanding, experienced and innovative leader, Aeolus is further strengthening its capabilities as a premier manager of reinsurance risk," Mr. Bernstein said in the release.
Mr. Dutt will join from RenaissanceRe, where he is senior vice president-ventures, said a news release on the reinsurance firm's website. CEO Kevin O'Donnell will assume responsibility for the ventures business on an interim basis.
