PUBLISHER’S LETTER NIKKI PIRRELLO
Our inaugural class exemplifies excellence in all that they do
Inspired, honored and proud. These are just a few of the words that come to my mind as Pensions & Investments welcomes its inaugural class of Influential Women in Institutional Investing.
This powerhouse group of 65 women represents nearly $47 trillion in investible capital, but beyond that, they represent the power of this industry to drive positive change across markets, the desire to improve outcomes for beneficiaries and the opportunity to shine a spotlight on what it means to be a successful woman in institutional investing today.

The overwhelming support we’ve received for this program has been profoundly inspiring. In my 15 years at P&I, I’ve never experienced such enthusiasm and anticipation, which is a testament to the sense of unity, purpose, and progress that defines our industry. People have reached out to me almost daily since we opened the nominations in February to ask questions, show their support and share ideas for how we can have an ongoing impact with this initiative. I am both grateful and humbled and ask all of you to please continue to share ideas on how we can ensure that this isn’t just an annual event, but a movement that provides support, encouragement and recognition — and drives continued positive change.
To launch this initiative, P&I assembled an advisory board of leading investors and key industry executives to help us shape the criteria and the conference agenda, and evaluate the nominations that we received. A heartfelt thank-you to the advisory board, our additional judges and the P&I team. Your time, expertise and commitment to fairness have been instrumental in ensuring that our awards recognize individuals who embody excellence in our field.
While the group of honorees is varied in background, experience and their role in the industry, a common thread among them is the desire to lift others and drive positive change. I hope that you will read each of their incredible stories of achievement and dedication and learn how they are helping to shape our industry and make a positive impact on diversity, pay equity, belonging, and representation, while encouraging more women to seek a career in institutional investing.
As we pay tribute to our winners and celebrate the collective spirit of excellence that defines our field, let us remember that this is not just a recognition of past accomplishments; it is a commitment to a future where innovation, diversity and collaboration reign.
We pledge to continue our mission of celebrating and uplifting the individuals who make our industry thrive, as well as the unyielding belief in the importance of recognizing female leaders in the industry.
