The New York State Common Retirement Fund (CRF, or ďthe FundĒ) holds assets in trust for more than one million members, retirees and beneficiaries who participate in the New York State and Local Retirement System (NYSLRS or the Retirement System). The $176.2 billion Common Retirement Fund is one of the largest institutional investors in the world. The Retirement System comprises the New York State and Local Employeesí Retirement System, established in 1921, and the New York State and Local Police and Fire Retirement system, created in 1966. Beyond the prudent management of the Fundís assets, the Retirement Systemís purpose is to provide excellent service to its members and pensioners, strengthen its partnership with participating employers and, above all, ensure the integrity of the Fund.

The Deputy Chief Investment Officer will collaborate and lead in the development and recommendation of asset allocation strategies within the Investment Group. Although the heads of each asset class will be responsible for the management of external investment advisors and will have responsibility for the day-to-day administration of their investment program, the Deputy Chief Investment Officer will be involved in the oversight of these activities.

The Deputy CIO will be accountable for the investment process and rigorous reviews of existing and prospective investments, and will provide recommendations for investment strategies and external investment advisors.

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 - 15 years of recent, full time experience in investment management, as well as a significant general management background. He/she must have extensive investments experience across the various asset classes, including the numerous alternative sectors. Candidates should have a Bachelorís degree from an accredited four year college or university, with major course work in business administration, finance, accounting, economics or a closely related field.
