With assets under management in excess of $370 billion across a range of fixed income, real estate, equity, money market and alternative funds, our clients benefit not only from our unique access to, and experience of, local markets but also from the availability of considerable global resources.
Aviva Investors combines the resources of several long-established asset management businesses owned by Aviva plc, bringing them together in a unified, global management structure. Aviva plc is a corporation headquartered in the UK, with shares publicly traded on the London Stock Exchange and corresponding American Depository Receipts (ADRs) traded on the New York Stock Exchange (ticker symbol AV). Aviva plc was created following the merger of CGU (Commercial General Union) and Norwich Union in May 2000 but its roots can be traced back over 300 years.
We are a significant business, employing over 1,380 people, including 439 investment professionals, in 14 countries and 20 locations around the world.
The responding firm, Aviva Investors North America, Inc., was incepted and began managing assets in December 1997 in Des Moines, Iowa, under the name of AmerUs Capital Management, Inc. Aviva plc acquired AmerUs Capital Management, Inc. in November of 2006.
In January of 2009, for GIPS reporting purposes, Aviva Investors North America, Inc. combined with another of Aviva’s asset management affiliates, Aviva Investors Canada Inc. In February 2010, Aviva Investors further expanded in North America with the acquisition of River Road Asset Management (River Road), based in Louisville, KY. The acquisition supported the expansion of our institutional asset management business by combining our existing expertise in fixed income with River Road’s equity investment capability. Today, these three entities make up our firm definition for AINA.
Galliard Capital Management is a registered investment advisory firm that specializes in stable value management. Galliard currently manages over $67 billion in assets under management for more than 220 institutional clients.
Galliard’s time-tested framework for structuring and managing stable value portfolios, with its focus on high quality, broad diversification, and stringent risk control, continues to produce consistently superior investment results without surprises.
With financial markets continuing to evolve, stable value investing has become increasingly more complex. As a result, the successful management of stable value portfolios demands much greater capabilities today, than in the past.
With over two decades of experience managing stable value and fixed income portfolio, Galliard’s senior professionals have the specialized knowledge and technical expertise to develop sound strategies appropriate for the role of stable value in defined contribution plans.
Our team combines a strong long-term track record of fixed income investing with extensive experience structuring and negotiating wrap contracts. This integrated approach provides the necessary components for building optimal solutions.
Experience matters – especially in this challenging environment. Stable value investing is, and always has been, Galliard’s core area of specialization.
A strong relationship with our clients is our top priority. We are highly responsive, maintain regular ongoing communications, and keep clients informed of key developments in fast changing markets. Galliard’s senior professionals work closely with clients to gain a thorough understanding of their Plan and existing portfolio before tailoring a portfolio strategy specifically for each client’s unique situation.
Stable value portfolio performance is ultimately driven by the investment performance of the underlying fixed income portfolios. The paramount objectives of Galliard’s fixed income philosophy and process are to control risk and generate income, which is the perfect fit for stable value. We are value investors. We do not chase yield or engage in aggressive trading strategies, which can unnecessarily create crediting rate and/or market/book value volatility.
